has-large-font-size\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A SUMMARY OF OUR FAMILY TREE.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-nv-text-dark-bg-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-c53c7dedfaae2441941fcdf89d2098fd\">OURS IS A FAMILY LINE ROOTED IN EARLY CANADIAN HISTORY<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-nv-text-dark-bg-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-010f718f40210a2badc25a6b112bf391\">The tree ends with our great great grandfather Antoine Alfred Groseilliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><em>The Desgroseilliers lived in Chateauguay, Quebec (New France). Some of that family moved to Callander, Ontario, where a name change to<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-nv-text-dark-bg-color\"> Grozell<\/mark> occurred. At a later date an <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-nv-text-dark-bg-color\">&#8220;e&#8221;<\/mark> was added and the name became <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-nv-text-dark-bg-color\">Grozelle.<\/mark><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>This story started with a brave French explorer named M\u00e9dard Chouart des Groseilliers.<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>This happened more that four hundred years ago.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>He was an explorer. His explorations took him through forests, and paddling huge lakes.He explored places in Canada and all around the world. No Europeans, had ever seen these places. He helped start the Hudson\u2019s Bay Company, which became one of the oldest companies in the world.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>M\u00e9dard had a daughter named Marie\u2011Antoinette, and she grew up in the early days of New France. She married and had children of her own<\/em><\/strong>. <strong><em>She named one of the children <\/em><\/strong>J<strong><em>ean\u2011Baptiste. As the years passed, the family grew and spread out across Quebec.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>By the late 1700s, our ancestors were living in the Ch\u00e2teauguay area. One of them was Fran\u00e7ois Desgroseilliers, who married Catherine Reid. They had a son named Joachim, who married Genevi\u00e8ve Rochon. Their children carried the family name into the 1800s.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>In 1842, a baby boy was born in Ch\u00e2teauguay. He <\/em><\/strong>was<strong><em>was named<\/em><\/strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-nv-dark-bg-color\"><em> <\/em><\/mark><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-nv-light-bg-color\"><em>Antoine Alfred des Groseilliers<\/em>. <\/mark><strong><em>When he moved to Ontario, English-speaking clerks had trouble spelling his French name<\/em><\/strong>. <strong><em>They changed his name slowly over time. Desgroseilliers was changed into Grozelle the name we know today.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Alfred grew up, married, raised children, and helped build the communities of early Ontario.
