Radisson is standing and Groseillier is sitting in this drawing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>THE GROZELLE FAMILIES BEGINNING<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE HISTORY BEGINS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p> A long time ago on January 29, 1682, four hundred years ago, Medard Chouart des Groseilliers was born. The start of our family tree. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our family tree began with a brave French explorer named <strong>M\u00e9dard Chouart des Groseilliers<\/strong>. He paddled across huge lakes, traveled through forests, and helped start the <strong><em>Hudson\u2019s Bay Company<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 one of the oldest companies in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e9dard had a daughter named <strong>Marie\u2011Antoinette<\/strong>, who grew up in the early days of New France.  Marie-Antoinette&#8217;s children and grandchildren grew up and moved away. They moved to  the  Montr\u00e9al area. After a time they moved to Ch\u00e2teauguay Quebec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of those descendants was <strong>Fran\u00e7ois Desgroseilliers<\/strong>, born in 1774. He married <strong>Catherine Reid<\/strong>, and they had a son named <strong>Joachim<\/strong>. Joachim married <strong>Genevi\u00e8ve Rochon<\/strong>, and their children carried the family name into the 1800s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1842, <strong>Antoine Alfred des Groseilliers<\/strong> was born.As a young lad   He moved to Ontario, where English was the language spoken. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Antoine found work in Ontario. He worked for an English Company.  Unfortunately, the english pay clerks had trouble spelling Antoine&#8217;s french name, Desgroseilliers. they slowly changed his name to <strong><em>Grozelle<\/em><\/strong> -Grozelle is the name the family is known as today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alfred raised his family in Ontario, and his children and grandchildren continued the story.<br>And now, that story has reached Desgroseilliers and Radisson played in developing Canada.
