Robert’s and Louise’s Armstrong’s Story/ Pearl and Keith Grozelle’s Story
Robert Thomas Armstrong and Louise Scott met and married on December 14, 1917. They met in Ottawa. Robert was a carpenter, a bachelor and age 47 when they married.
Louise was a widow (Taggart was her married name). She was 37 when she married Robert Thomas Armstrong..
Bertram Armstrong was adopted by Robert after Louise and he married.
Unfortunately, I only have a couple of pictures of Earl her brother. You will see that he was a hockey player for the Ottawa Buckaroos for a couple of years.
Pearl ‘s and Keith’s Children
Margaret Pearl Armstrong (Pearl) was born to Robert and Louise on February 2, 1920 in Ottawa.
The video gives you a peek of Pearl as a baby. Her grandmother, mother and father are in the video. You will see what a fashionable dresser she was and that she was the owner of a car. It is exciting to see her with Keith during their courting days and during their early marriage.
There is A love story in this video. Keith Grozelle, son of Fredrick and Cora Grozelle (Farrell), after graduating from Mining School in Haileybury Ontario, Keith moves to Ottawa for his job. He boards at Pearl’s mother’s Boarding House. He eventually meets Pearl Armstrong the daughter of Robert and Louise Armstrong. A short courtship, followed. Keith proposed to Pearl. She accepted, and they married. On December 14, 1936. (the same date as Pearl’s parents -1917. They married in Ottawa.
After Pearl and Keith’s marriage, his work as an assayer eventually took them to a few mining towns in Northern Ontario. When world war two broke out he joined the air force and was training to become a pilot. This involved more moves this time to air force bases across Canada.

Faye and Calvin travelled with their mother. Pearl went to all the mining towns Keith worked in. Keith joined the Air Force to become a pilot. Pilots require specialized training. This training occurs at Air Forces Bases across Canada. Pearl and her children joined Keith at these training bases.

Faye Cora Louise Grozelle (Smedley) is the first born of the children. She was born April 7, 1938 in Ottawa.
Calvin Keith Grozelle is the second born of the children. He was born on December 1, 1939 in Kirkland Lake.
Robert Terrance Grozelle (Terry) he was the third born March 8, 1945 in North Bay.
Sandra Gail Grozelle (Lash) she is the last born on September 21, 1950 in Sault Ste. Marie.
